What's been done so far

I will update this site as time permits and source material becomes available. The first thing that I've completed is a slide show for the centennial reunion of the Smilanich clan held on July 4th weekend, 2002 at the home of Alex and Mary Batinich. It takes about 20 minutes to go through.

Most of the pictures are mine, with some donated by Tom Smith and John McLaughlin. Tom contributed several pictures from the gathering in the hospitality suite and the family dinner. The pictures of the Sunday services, the houses in Chisholm, and the headstones came from John.

I've also put together a short history of a family heirloom that has been passed down through the eldest sons to me as from Stefan.

I've completed copying over the family trees from the back of “My Father's Mountain” to a genealogical database. I've also used the associated tools to create a set of Web pages for each member of the family. Each person listed has as complete a picture of their ancestors and their descendants as I have been able to document for up to 8 generations. The raw list of names is located here.

Also, I have created decendant charts for 5 key ancestors to better illustrate how we are related; Antim Smiljanic, the unknown father of Petar and Ilija Maljkovic, Lazo Maljkovic, Rade Maljkovic, and Jovan Orlic.

WARNING! Many of the links in the Orlich branches currently point to the wrong people. I have yet to figure out why. However, so far as I know the charts themselves are accurate.

I've solved the link problems. Every tested link now puts you to the right person. If someone finds a link that doesn't go where you expect, please let me know. My email is on every individual's page.

I've also created links to better quality pictures of Gedo's watch and placed them on the “Family Heirloom” page.
